Zachary Lucky

Zachary Lucky - March 5th

Unapologetically old-school country and armed with a husky, baritone voice, Zachary Lucky is the grandson of Canadian country music pioneer Smilin’ Johnnie Lucky. Often compared to songwriters such as Gordon Lightfoot and Kris Kristofferson, Zachary sings of Canadian people and places. Hailed as a masterful storyteller by such outlets as No Depression and The Globe and Mail, he’s on his way to earning a spot among the pantheon of Canadian roots royalty. On tour to promote his new album The Wind, Zachary is looking forward to playing for a Bassment crowd.

Mike Plume

Mike Plume - March 23rd

Since his arrival on the scene amid the rise of alt-country in the early 1990s, Mike Plume has logged countless miles around the globe, touring with the likes of Steve Earle, Los Lobos, the Dixie Chicks, and the Mavericks, while befriending legends such as Levon Helm and singing at Stompin’ Tom Connors’ memorial. Long known for his richly detailed storytelling style and earthy, uncompromising voice, Mike remains one of Canada’s most accomplished singer-songwriters at the top of his game and is touring in support of his on his 15th album, The Songharvester EP – Volume 1.

Under the Rocks

Under the Rocks - April 1st

One of Canada’s premier bluegrass bands, Under the Rocks makes a big sound, tipping its cap to tradition while incorporating singer-songwriter music intentionally put together with clever, inventive song arrangements, emotive instrumental breaks, and powerful vocal harmony. They feature Jordan Klassen (guitar/vocals), Chloe Davidson (fiddle/vocals), Chris Baxter (banjo/mandolin/vocals), and Nils Loewen (bass). The band’s shows are full of dancing, laughter, joyful hoots and hollers, and occasional serene moments accompanied by tears and tranquil sighs of release or appreciation. Under the Rocks is touring in support of their second studio album, Honest Try. The album was produced by long-time bluegrass favourite Andrew Collins and boasts high-calibre lyricism, musicianship, and production.

Amanda Rheaume

Amanda Rheaume with Special Guest: JJ Lavalee - April 30th

Amanda Rheaume’s rootsy, guitar-driven ballads introduce crucial dimensions to the world of heartland rock. In a genre characterized by anthems of underdogs, assumptions and unfair advantages, Rheaume’s sound and story crucially and radically expand the boundaries, geographic and cultural, to make space for new perspectives on resistance and resilience. A citizen of the Métis Nation and a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, her music is indeed from the heart and the land. Rheaume has released five full-length albums over a period of 15 years. 2013’s Keep a Fire was nominated for a JUNO Award and won a Canadian Folk Music Award for Indigenous Songwriter of the Year.

Saskatoon fiddler JJ Lavalee plays the opening set.
