An Important Message from NLBOTMS
Supporting the Future of Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Tyme Music Society
As we reflect on an incredible 2024 Camp and Festival, held at the beautiful Ness Creek Site near Big River, SK this past August, we are filled with gratitude for everyone who helped make it such a memorable experience. The music, the learning, and the sense of community were truly special. However, despite the success of the event, we missed our ticket sales goal by just 97 tickets—an amount that has created a significant financial gap as we look ahead to 2025.
The Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Tyme Music Society (NLBOTMS) is a non-profit, registered charitable organization dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional music in Saskatchewan. While our camp and festival are highlights of the year, our work extends far beyond these events in August.
We offer year-round programming in Regina, Saskatoon, and Prince Albert, and this year alone, we’ve provided additional programs in communities like Martensville, McLean, Coronach, and La Ronge. However, the financial strain from the last two years has left us without the reserves we need to comfortably plan for next year’s programming.
We are actively seeking additional funding through grants and sponsorships, but the current economic climate makes securing those funds uncertain. That’s why we are asking our community to step in and support us through donations. By becoming a monthly or annual donor, you will be helping us continue to offer high-quality music education and community-building opportunities throughout the province. Your donation, no matter the size, will go directly towards ensuring that our year-round programming remains strong and sustainable. As a charitable organization, all contributions are fully tax-deductible. Together, we can ensure that the Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Tyme Music Society continues to thrive and provide the spaces where musicians and enthusiasts of all ages can come together to learn, connect, and celebrate the music we love.
