2024 BLUEGRASS AT THE BARN LINE UP
The Lonesome Town Painters are a tried-and-true, bona fide bluegrass band hailing from Vancouver, British Columbia. These fellas have a look, style and sound that harkens back to the raw and ragged edge of the genre inspired by artists such as the Stanley Brothers, Bill Monroe and Flatt and Scruggs. Their soaring harmonies and driving instrumentation have come to define their spirited performances, while their honestly written originals pay tribute to golden era pioneers. Playing an eclectic mix of songs about love, heartache, prison, and the odd gospel number, this hard-hitting quartet would be equally at home in the barroom on Saturday night or the church house on Sunday morning, comfortable treading that fine line between perdition and salvation. They have been playing together as band for almost ten years and in that time have established themselves as one of the premier bluegrass bands in the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada. They have recorded three albums that are available online through providers such as Apple Music and Spotify and are currently working on their fourth album. They have played many festivals and concerts in western Canada and US. They have also had radio airplay on a number of radio stations and streaming services across the globe.
Homey, approachable, irreverent, and uplifting are all words that describe the Doggone Brothers Band well. The music is acoustic-grassy, with a dash of old country and a side of old-time music throughout their set of original, traditional and cover tunes. Known for their spontaneous laughs, cheeky off-the-cuff banter, and all-in stage presence, the Doggone Brothers Band round out their sets with incisive breaks, blood-style harmonies, and thoughtful tunes. This group brings a unique flavour to any stage—you can count on it being a doggone good time!
This Kootenay-based band is Clayton Parsons on banjo, guitar and dobro, and Michael Hepher on mandolin, octave mandolin, and guitar.
5 Guys Named Dave is an old time string band based out of Saskatoon, SK. Featuring smooth rolling banjo, hard chopping mandolin, rip roading fiddle, steadfast bass and rich guitar, 5 Guys Named Dave will have your dancing and singing along to old favorites while falling in love with new tunes as well.
5 Guys Named Dave are seasoned performers in the Saskatchewan area, performing at dances, concert halls, bars and festivals. They are committed to keeping the flame of old time music alive with each note played. They are sure to bring an energetic show to audiences young and old
Gil & Wil is a femme duo based out of Saskatoon, SK, made up of members Holly Gilroy (she/her) & Aiden McRorie Wilson (she/her). Bringing spice and a modern take to western swing, bluegrass, and old-time music, the two seamlessly blend their voices, making use of tight harmonies while passing melody lines between each other. Once the sun breaks through the prairie winter, the duo can often be found gallivanting around Saskatchewan’s many music festivals in vintage skirts and dresses. Gil & Wil lean in to goofy banter to support their on-stage charm, and find the most joy in collaborating with many first-rate friends. They sure do have a hoot and hope you do too!
