2023 MUSIC CAMP AUGUST 14th - 18th
This video was shot on location at Ness Creek during Camp Week 2017. It offers great insight as to what happens during a typical Music Camp Week. You will hear first hand from instructors, students and young people that have attended Camp for many years who are now instructor interns. It’s the real deal, enjoy!
What is Music Camp?
- WHAT? – Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Time Music Society hosts an all ages Music Camp prior to its annual Music Festival. Multi-skill level classes are taught in various acoustic instruments found within the Bluegrass and Old Time genres, such as banjo, fiddle, mandolin, bass, guitar, dobro, voice and even an introductory class for children’s music. Special interest workshops or ‘mini-workshops’ on various topics will be offered throughout the week on a drop-in basis. Of course there are also lots of jams, both organized and spontaneous!
- WHERE? – Our Music Camp is held 20KM NE of Big River, Saskatchewan at the Ness Creek site. The location makes for a remote getaway in a rustic setting among the beautiful boreal forest! Need directions? Click HERE.
- WHO? – All classes are taught by the festival’s main stage performers. Participants will choose one class and remain with their instructor for the duration of the camp week.
- HOW MUCH? – We have adult rates and youth rates available. Please see the Tuition section for current pricing
